Background
 
Dr. Jeffrey Slepski, a fourth-generation steel mill worker, has always believed in the profound impact of education. A longtime resident of our community, Dr. Slepski devoted 21 years to teaching science at Hemet High School, where he played a pivotal role in designing state standardized science test questions. His dedication to education extends beyond the classrooms of HUSD. He went on to serve as an adjunct professor at CSU San Marcos and now holds the esteemed title of Distinguished Professor Emeritus at MSJC.
 
Dr. Slepski's commitment to the community is evident in his extensive volunteer work. He has been instrumental in the rebuilding of the trails in Simpson Park and dedicates his time to supporting the Hemet High Cross Country and Bike Club. In 2015, he authored a proposal to preserve the Palms to Pine Trail, advocating for the protection of Native and public lands in collaboration with the Bureau of Land Management.
 
Dr. Slepski joined the Board following a vacancy and is wholeheartedly committed to the work of the District, bringing his wealth of experience and passion for education to his new role.

Community Involvement
  • Served on the Hemet Park Commission
  • Volunteered for the Cross Country team at Hemet High School
  • Contributed to Hemet General Plan 2030, specifically Chapter 8, Recreation and Trails
  • Developed and maintained trails at Simpson Park, including building and maintaining 15 miles of trails
  • Worked on a regional-wide trail system interacting with San Bernardino National Forest, local Native American interests, County trails commission, and BLM
  • Involved in graffiti removal in Southeast Hemet
  • Advocated for responsible development at Simpson Park in collaboration with the City of Hemet
  • Wrote a proposal for the Bureau of Land Management in 2015 to preserve and protect the Palms to Pines Trail, addressing Native American and public land rights
