Governing Board Recognition Award

The Governing Board of the Hemet Unified School District, on nomination by Trustee Eugene Hikel, has selected Janet Mendoza, retired district administrator, as the April recipient of the Governing Board Recognition and Award.

Mrs. Mendoza has been working with special needs students since 1985 when she was an instructional assistant.  She came to Hemet Unified in 2008 as a Program Specialist and retired from the District as the Coordinator of Special Education in 2011.  Most recently, Janet returned to the District as the Interim Director of Special Education while a vacancy was being filled.

Janet has brought leadership and systems to the Special Education Department.  She has extensive background in Special Education and was a great support to the department in and out of retirement.  She always goes above and beyond the call of duty to serve our district and most importantly our students.  When she came back to serve as Interim Director, she did not view this as just filling in, but took pride in her work and was fully committed to serving our students.

For outstanding performance, professionalism and loyalty to the Hemet Unified School District, Trustee Eugene Hikel presented Janet Mendoza with the Governing Board Recognition of Excellence Award and a $500 certificate to be used toward the District program of her choice.
