Dr. Walt Pleasnick has been the Hemet Unified Spelling Bee Master for over 25 years. In that time Walt has been the "in charge" person responsible for running a program that must adhere to all of the regulations and procedures that are handed down from Scripps, the State and Riverside County. Each year, without fail, Walt helps to organize, plan for, script out and execute the Spelling Bee in a very precise and orderly manner. Walt's style and experience having been a teacher and administrator for many years comes through as someone who has a knack for relating to students. Perhaps, one of the most important skills that Walt brings to the Bee is his ability to calm down the anxious and nervous students. He always takes the time to welcome them, walk them through the procedures and answer any questions before they get started. Even though there are a lot of nerves coming in, Walt makes a tense situation very methodical and orderly. Hemet Unified thanks Walt for his many years of service in running an excellent Spelling Bee.
