Hemet HS Cross Country Runner Wins Prestigious Race

On September 21st, Hemet High School's Gabriella Loza made an impressive mark at the 43rd Annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic, held at Orange County Great Park in the city of Irvine. Sponsored by ASICS, this prestigious event draws participants from high schools across the state. Gabriella competed in the Division 3 category of the 3-mile race and out of 372 students, she placed first with an outstanding time of 19 minutes and 8 seconds.

When asked about her win, Gabriella shared, "I felt good going into the race, and this victory gives me confidence heading into the next one." Gabriella’s victory was a personal best and a proud moment for the entire HUSD family—especially for her father, Jose Loza Gonzalez, HUSD’s Facilities Project Manager, who couldn’t be more thrilled by his daughter’s incredible success!

To close out the 2024 season, Gabriella placed 9th place at the CIF Preliminary Meet and earned additional recognitions by Hemet HS as Most Valuable Player and the Hemet Athletics Association.
