The newly opened 17,700-seat Intuit Dome in Inglewood, future home of the Los Angeles Clippers, had its grand opening on August 15, 2024, just in time for the upcoming NBA season. One of the standout features of this state- of-the-art arena is its unique display of high school pride: over 1,544 basketball jerseys from high schools across California are being mounted on eight massive walls, with more added weekly, including Hemet Unified School District who provided jerseys from each of its high schools.
This remarkable project, spearheaded by Clippers President of Business Operations Gillian Zucker, celebrates California’s rich high school sports legacy. What started as a challenge to collect enough jerseys quickly became a success, with high schools from all over the state contributing jerseys to ensure their teams were represented.
Visitors to the Intuit Dome can spot their alma mater’s jersey and snap a photo, creating a sense of nostalgia and pride. In addition to the jersey walls, the Intuit Dome features a regulation court that can seat 700 spectators, with plans to even host some high school championship games.
HUSD is excited to be part of this celebration and the Clippers’ continued commitment to the community. So, the next time you catch a Clippers game, be sure to find our school names shining among the stars—on the walls of the Intuit Dome!
