Governing Board Award

Hemet, October 15, 2024: The Governing Board of the Hemet Unified School District, on
nomination by Trustee Dr. Jeffrey Slepski, has selected Mr. Eric Nord, teacher at Diamond
Valley Middle School, as the October 2024 recipient of the Governing Board Recognition
and Award.

Eric Nord, Social Studies teacher and former Department Chair at Diamond Valley Middle
School, exemplifies excellence in education with over 25 years of experience in public
schools. His leadership has been instrumental in aligning the Social Studies curriculum
with California State Standards and implementing uniform pacing across his department.
Mr. Nord's commitment to school safety is evident through his participation in revising and
updating Diamond Valley’s School Site Safety Plan, as well as his previous service on the
School Site Council. As an exceptional motivator, Mr. Nord excels at developing crucial
skills in his students, consistently achieving outstanding results in both academic growth
and social responsibility. His educational approach emphasizes student ownership of the
learning process, employing innovative methods that highly engage and motivate students,
making him a valuable asset to Diamond Valley Middle School and a true champion of
student success.

Mr. Nord embodies what it means to be a professional educator - he is a gentleman, a
class act, and an advocate for all students to embrace their fullest learning potential.  For
his unwavering commitment and relentless work ethic to giving students a world-class
education in Hemet Unified School District, Trustee Dr. Jeffrey Slepski presents Mr. Eric
Nord with the Governing Board Recognition of Excellence Award and a $500 certificate to
be used toward the District program of his choice.
