Mr. Scott has been key in establishing a positive school culture at Tahquitz High School since his arrival in 2019. Over this time, Mr. Scott has reinvented the construction pathway to include leadership and structure that mirrors life on a job site. Students are engaged in work that is far beyond that of the traditional shop class that provides
program completers with a distinct advantage upon graduation. With several students in the apprenticeship program, we are proud to recognize his hard work and dedication to all students with this award. We would also like to add a recognition from the Southwest Carpenters Union.
From the Partner: We’re here to celebrate the accomplishments of Walter and his students from the construction pathway at Tahquitz High School for their hard work and victory at the CIEF Design Build Competition. These students competed in the open shed category and bested 27 other schools for the title in their very first year. We are sure this is due to the unrelenting time, effort, and energy the Mr. Scott and the staff at
Tahquitz High School pour into the students to help them succeed. These students learn day in and day out what it takes to become a successful member of the workforce as a Union Carpenter and that was reflected in their results. We so proud to be able to support pre-apprenticeship programs like these that prepare students for the best jobs,
wages, and benefits in the industry.
