On Saturday, April 15, the HUSD Wellness and Community Outreach Center hosted their annual Family Festival at the Hemet Adult School Campus. The Family Festival is a free event for families in the community. Over 1,200 attendees came out for food, fun and a variety of resources.
This year's Family Festival was made possible by HOPE Collaborative's $3,000 donation. Booths were set up by volunteers from school sites as well as other community partners including Riverside University Health System, Riverside County Department of Child Support Services, and Sigma Beta Xi Youth and Family Services.
School site and district administrators attended the event to support the different services and recreational activities. Wellness Center staff provided attending families with vouchers for pizza and subs. The Expanded Learning and Opportunities Program (ELOP) students made piñatas which were raffled out during the event. ELOP staff also assisted with a cotton candy booth. Families who attended were also given pantry items when leaving the event.
